Dmitry Chernyshenko: this year the tourist flow to the Kaliningrad region may exceed two million people

An agreement on cooperation in the development of tourism and the hospitality industry, including tourism infrastructure, was signed in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The document was signed by Anton Alikhanov, Governor of the Kaliningrad Region,and General Director of the Tourism Corporation.Russian Federation Sergey Sukhanov.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that the Kaliningrad Region has become the 62nd region to join the implementation of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality Industry".

"Agreement between the Tourism Corporation.This is an important step towards fulfilling the Russian President's order to accelerate the creation of tourist infrastructure, as well as year-round seaside resorts. The region with its unique natural, cultural and historical heritage is traditionally a magnet for tourists. Last year, it was visited by 1 million 835 thousand people. According to forecasts, more than 2 million people are expected this year. The joint task of the Corporation and the regional Government is to provide guests with affordable and comfortable accommodation based on the best international practices, " said the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia

"The tourism industry is one of the main drivers of social and economic development of the Kaliningrad region. The region effectively uses the opportunities of the national project and federal programs to improve the quality of services and infrastructure. We create a modern urban environment, ensure the accessibility of points of attraction and convenient transport links, implement modern formats of tourist projects and develop not only comfortable holidays on the coast, but also actively use the east of the region. The demand for tourist products is constantly growing, and it is interesting for any traveler here. And interaction with the Tourism Corporation.The Russian Federation will give a new impetus and strengthen our joint work on the development of the industry, " Anton Alikhanov stressed.

"The subject of the agreement with the Kaliningrad Region is joint work on the implementation of complex tourism projects. Four of them belong to cultural heritage sites of federal and regional significance. According to the Baltic Pearl project, it is planned to develop a comprehensive tourist area in the Zelenograd district and create a modern year-round resort on the Baltic coast with a large saltwater pool, thanks to which guests of the resort will be able to extend the bathing season. Two other projects – Yantar Resort&Spa and a hotel in the center of Kaliningrad – are already being jointly developed with the region and investors. There are other proposals that we will work on together with the region, " Sergey Sukhanov commented.

Dmitry Chernyshenko added that the Kaliningrad region actively uses the tools of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality Industry".

"So, in 2023, about 700 million rubles were allocated from the federal budget, and in just two years more than one and a half billion rubles were allocated for the implementation of measures. There is also a school tourism program for residents. The region, on behalf of the President, will be involved in the creation of tourist infrastructure, where modular hotels will be created and a tourist code for the city center will be developed. I am sure that we will see the fruits of this activity in the near future, and more and more travelers will be able to appreciate the hospitality of the westernmost region of our country," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
